Vandal Strikes Trump National Golf Club in Virginia, Rebrands It “Fat Nixon”
Trump has long been dubbed “Fat Nixon”
STERLING, VA — In the early hours of Tuesday morning, an image began circulating online of the entrance sign at Trump National Golf Club Washington in Sterling, Virginia—except something was different. The name had been altered, and in bold letters, it read: “Fat Nixon.”
By midday, when we arrived at the scene, the sign was completely gone. A work crew was stationed outside, presumably scrubbing away the evidence of yet another public embarrassment for the disgraced president. Attempts to reach the club for comment were ignored, but the message was already clear: someone, somewhere, had enough.

This act of defiance comes during a record-high moment of public outrage against Donald Trump—not just for his laundry list of domestic corruption, but for his shameless appeasement of Vladimir Putin and continued attacks on Ukraine. Americans have not forgotten how, as president, Trump attempted to extort Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy into fabricating dirt on Joe Biden by withholding critical military aid. That moment led to Trump’s first impeachment, and yet, his devotion to Russia has only escalated. Today, he openly vows to let Putin “do whatever the hell he wants” to NATO allies, and now has retaliatory cut off military aid entirely to Ukraine in the middle of Putin’s brutal invasion.
The comparison to Richard Nixon—another disgraced Republican president who weaponized the government for personal gain—is nothing new. Trump has long been dubbed “Fat Nixon” by critics, particularly because of his paranoia, criminality, and obsessive need for revenge. Like Nixon, Trump sees the presidency not as a public service but as a means of self-preservation.
The difference is Nixon, in the face of overwhelming evidence, had the shred of dignity to resign. Trump, on the other hand, would never, ever admit fault or defeat thanks to his overt narcissism.
The vandalized sign at Trump National Golf Club may be gone now, but its message remains true. For a man whose entire identity is built on branding, being publicly rebranded as a pathetic, bloated caricature of his own worst impulses is a fitting dose of karma.
And hopefully, the next time “Fat Nixon” gets removed—it’s not from a sign, but from the political stage altogether.
FAT NIXON was what I needed to get through the day. Thank you.
I don't live far from Ashburn. But I find it especially entertaining. Trumpy is the worst US president in history, but i am confident he is fully capable of getting worse. Fat Nixon is funny. But as horrid as Tricky Dick was, he was a rank amateur compared to Trumpy.
